An Anniversary Celebration 70 Years in the Making
Wild Turkey started celebrating Jimmy Russell’s long time with the company by releasing special anniversary editions in 2004.
This year marks his 70th anniversary, so they’ve released another special bottle.
Past editions included the 50th Anniversary “Wild Turkey Tribute” and the 60th Anniversary “Diamond Anniversary.”
While the Tribute was popular, the Diamond Anniversary didn’t get as much attention.
One reason could be that it was bottled at 91 proof, even though it came from barrels aged 13 to 16 years.
The flavor might have been too strong, so they lowered the proof.
For this year’s release, Wild Turkey used 8- to 9-year-old barrels and bottled it at 101 proof.

I’m excited to find a bourbon that goes beyond my expectations.
Jimmy Russell’s 70th Anniversary Bourbon has a smooth, strong flavor that truly captures the spirit of Wild Turkey.
Unlike the regular Wild Turkey 101, it doesn’t have the sharp spice or bitterness.
Each sip is well-balanced, making it hard to stop drinking.
At its suggested price, this bottle is sure to be popular.
It stands out from similar bourbons, offering a richer taste.
A close competitor might be the new Wild Turkey Private Selection Single Barrels, but in my opinion, the 70th Anniversary is better with its smoother, more mature flavor and clear oak taste.
