Stagg Jr. Batch 11: When I first opened this bottle, the strong and bold flavors were too much for me, and I found it hard to enjoy.
I decided to leave it aside for a while and try other whiskies to develop my taste.
Months later, I came back to it and was surprised.
The flavors felt smoother and easier to enjoy, maybe because of the air in the bottle or the fact that I had learned more about whiskies.
As I finished the bottle, its sweetness stood out more, and I loved sharing it with family and friends.
This bottle taught me a lot about strong, uncut bourbon and helped me appreciate high-proof whiskies.

Stagg Jr is made at the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, USA.
This distillery is one of the oldest in America, with over 200 years of history.
Buffalo Trace is known for making some of the best bourbons, including Stagg Jr.
Stagg Jr is a strong bourbon with bold, rich flavors.
It is named after George T. Stagg, an important figure in bourbon history.
The “Jr” shows its connection to the highly praised George T. Stagg Bourbon, part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
Stagg Jr is younger and less old but made with great care and skill.
To make Stagg Jr, Buffalo Trace uses a mix of corn, rye, and malted barley.
The bourbon ages in charred oak barrels stored in warehouses, where Kentucky’s weather helps develop its deep flavors and rich color.
Each batch of Stagg Jr is small and has a unique proof, usually over 120.
It is uncut and unfiltered, meaning it is full-strength and packed with flavor.
This makes it popular among bourbon fans who enjoy strong and complex whiskey.
Buffalo Trace Distillery has won many awards for its quality, and Stagg Jr is no different.
Though not as rare as George T. Stagg, it is still highly valued. Every bottle shows the distillery’s dedication to tradition and excellence.
Visitors to Buffalo Trace Distillery can learn about Stagg Jr’s history, see how it’s made, and taste some of their famous bourbons.
Stagg Jr remains a great example of Buffalo Trace’s skill in creating top-notch bourbons loved by whiskey fans around the world.

When Stagg, Jr. was first released, it didn’t get the best reception.
Buffalo Trace tried to build on the George T. Stagg name by offering a younger version, but many whiskey fans didn’t like it.
Some who tried the early batches were so disappointed that they didn’t come back.
However, over time, Stagg, Jr. has improved.
Since it first came out in 2013, Stagg, Jr. has been released twice a year—once in spring and again in fall.
The latest release, Batch 11 (Fall 2018), has a proof of 127.9°, which is the second-lowest proof of all the batches.
The highest proof was Batch 1, which had 134.4°.
While the bottle doesn’t mention its age, Stagg, Jr. is usually made from a mix of eight- and nine-year-old barrels, from the same recipe used for the George T. Stagg whiskey.
Even though Stagg, Jr. is considered an allocated whiskey, it’s not too hard to find.
Prices usually range from $49.99 to $69.99, depending on where it’s sold.
Batch 11 has a rich, dark amber color and an interesting smell with strong notes of cherry, vanilla, oak, and honey.
When you taste it, it starts with light flavors of vanilla and nuts, followed by a peppery finish.
The cherry flavor comes through, reminding you of cherry pie filling, which is a nice surprise for those expecting more heat from the high proof.
The texture is smooth, and the warmth of pepper comes back after a little while, giving the drink more depth.
